Overview
Pepper Tree was a humble workers cottage built during the late 1880s as part of a larger farm in the Breede River Valley. 100 years later, the South African Heritage Resource Agency declared the cottage a National Monument on the Western Cape Heritage Site.

Today it still retains its outer clay walls and Palmiet ceiling, beneath the brand solder and thatched roof. A reed wall protects a simple outside shower, while a stone hearth provides the centrepiece for fireside evenings.

The cottage has an intimate ambience, with a traditional open fireplace that is graced with a small Queen Ann wood stove. There is a queen-size bed dressed with crisp white linen. The room has an en-suite bathroom and fully equipped kitchen opens out onto a veranda and fragrant herb garden.

Braai facilities with seating areas are shaded by the Pepper and Blue Gum trees, offering beautiful views of the mountain and nature reserve.
